A Heritage of Hope and a Legacy of Love (Sally DeFord)

In a world of fleeting treasure where all precious things may pass
How can I bestow on those I love the riches that will last?
I would leave them an inheritance of everlasting worth
I would give to them a treasure that is theirs by right of birth

I will teach them of the Savior, of his sacrifice for them
We will search the works of scripture that their love may grow for him
That they may learn to feel the Spirit, we will kneel in sacred prayer
That their hearts may yearn for heaven, we will seek our treasure there.

When uncertainty surrounds them, may our home be blessed with peace
May they find within a haven where their hope and faith increase
Where their confidence in Christ may grow, wherein they are assured
That the strength of true conviction bars all doubt beyond the door

In a world of fleeting treasure where abiding things are few
May I leave with them my witness of the things I know are true
That they may rest among the riches of righteousness secure
That amid the wealth of heaven, no want shall they endure.

That those who follow after me may share
An inheritance of wealth beyond compare
That they may turn to God above, that they may know the blessing of
