Description: The Cherubic Hymn is sung during the Great Entrance, the moment in orthodox Liturgy when the priest and the deacon(s) appear from behing the iconostasis bearing the Holy Gifts of bread and wine to show them to the congregation. The initial prayers and the actual procession are accompanied by the intial, slow verses of the hymn. After two verses (which may be repeated if the procession lasts longer), the priest intones a number of prayers for the patriarch, the faithful etc. After the choir's "Amen", the last verse is sung allegro as the priest and deacon move back behind the iconostasis.
