1.
- Christe, der du bist Tag und Licht,
- vor die ist, Herr, verborgen nichts;
- du vaterlichen Lichtes Glanz
- lehr uns den Weg der Warheit ganz.
2.
- Wir bitten dein göttliche Kraft:
- behüt uns, Herr, in dieser Nacht,
- bewahr uns, Herr, vor allem Leid,
- Gott, Vater der Barmherzigkeit.
3.
- Vertreib den schweren Schlaf, Herr Christ,
- daß uns nicht schad des Feindes List;
- das Fleisch in Züchten reine sei,
- so sind wir mancher Sorge frei.
4.
- So unsre Augen schlafen schier,
- laß unser Herze wachen dir,
- beschirm uns, Gottes rechte Hand,
- und lös uns von der Sünde Band.
5.
- Beschirmer, Herr der Christenheit,
- dein Hilf allzeit sei uns bereit:
- hilf uns, Herr Gott, aus aller Not
- durch deine heilgen Wunden rot.
6.
- Gedenke, Herr, der schweren Zeit,
- darin der Leib gefangen leit;
- der Seele, die du hast erlöst,
- der gib, Herr Jesu, deinen Trost.
7.
- Gott Vater sei Lob, Ehr und Preis,
- auch seinem Sohne, gleicherweis
- des Heil'gen Geistes Gütigkeit
- von nun an bis in Ewigkeit.

- O Christ ye art ye lyght & day
- Thou discouerest ye darknes of nyght
- Ye lyght of lyghtes thou art alwaye
- Preachyng euer the blessed lyght.
2.
- Thou holy lorde to the we praye
- Defende vs all in this darke nyght
- Let vs haue rest in the alwaye
- And graunt vs all a quyet nyght.
3.
- Let not heuye slepe on vs fall
- Nor let the feynde take vs awaye
- Let not oure fleshe consent with all
- To make vs gyltie by nyght nor daye.
4.
- Let oure eyes take theyr slepe naturall
- But let oure hartes wake to the styll
- With thy ryght honde defende vs all
- Thy seruanntes true that loue the well.
5.
- Loke on vs lorde oure defender
- Put them downe that wolde vs no good
- Kepe thy seruauntes in good ordre
- Whom thou hast bought with thy deare bloude.
6.
- Lorde call vs now vnto thy mynde
- In this body that is so heuy
- Thou that doest euer oure soule defende
- Be present now with thy mercy.
7.
- God the father for euermore
- With Iesu Christ his sonne only
- And the holy goost oure confortoure
- Be thanked alwaye hartely.
