Latin.png Latin text

Martyr Dei, qui unicum
Patris sequendo Filium,
Victis triumphans hostibus,
Victor fruens caelestibus.

Tui precatus munere
Nostrum reatum dilue,
Arcens mali contagium,
Vitae removens taedium.

Soluta sunt jam vincula
Tui sacrati corporis:
Nos solve vinclis saeculi
Amore Filii Dei.

Gloria tibi, Domine,
Qui surrexisti a mortuis,
Cum Patre et Sancto Spiritu
In sempiterna saecula. Amen.

English.png English translation

Martyr of God, who followed
The Father's only Son,
And, triumphing o'er your vanquished foes,
Rejoices, victorious, in heavenly bliss.

By your prayers in heaven offered
Wash away the charge we face;
Avert the stain of evil from us,
And draw from life its weariness.

The bonds which held you now are broken
From your body sanctified:
Release us from the bonds of this age
By your love for God's own son.

Glory be to you, O Lord,
Who from the dead arose,
With the Father and the Holy Spirit,
Through unending ages. Amen.
