Description: The piece is a setting of Psalm 51 (Miserere mei, Deus) in 5 movements (or parts) for large forces. The original conception of the work was to have four brass choirs (all doubling the choral parts) situated around the auditorium surrounding the audience. For practical reasons, it may also be performed without the brass choir.
Composed around 1996, a truncated version of the piece was premiered around 1997/98 by the York University Wind Symphony (using a brass choir instead of a chorus) under the direction of the composer. The full version of the piece was edited in 1999, and again in 2008.
This edition reflects the latest, 2008, version.
