Om våren

O äppelträd! Mig säg vart står din håg?
Vart vill du hän i all din blomsterskrud?
Säg, äppelträd! Du vårens unga brud,
Vill du med alla dina rosor röda
vid vårens första ankomst re'n förblöda?

En bisvärm söker i din krona tröst,
och änglakörer ljuda i mitt bröst,
och änglakörer ljuda i mitt bröst.

Se trädet här så tyst i drömmar står
Liksom det åter saligheten vunnit,
Sitt paradis, sitt hemland återfunnit,
sitt paradis, sitt hemland återfunnit, sitt paradis!

O Apfelbaum!
Sprich, Apfelbaum, wo stehet hin dein Sinn?
Willst du dich denn in diesem ros'gen Gluthen

Springtime

Tell me, appletree, your true concerns.
That cloud of blossom, both your joy and pride,
Decks you out as if you were spring’s bride.
And shall those rosy petals fade and fall
When early spring has barely come to call?

A swarm of bees attends you all day long,
An angel choir is bursting into song.
The tree is pensive, silently it stands
As if it had found peace and now remained
In paradise, its land of birth regained.
