Life

Born: after 1770

Died: 10 September 1813

Biography: Born in Valencia in the decade of 1770, he was an organist and composer who belonged to the class of «pardos libres» (conformed by artists and musicians). He probably studied with Ambrosio Carreño (1721-1801), according to a Will of his own. Married to María Petronila Ochoa (1788-?), and father of four children. Around 1805, he appears as an organist at the Church of the Holy Trinity, then in the payroll of the Church of Altagracia (a county located in Caracas), and two years later at the Church of La Pastora (another county located in Caracas), where he was buried in 1813, at the time of his death. His little production of sacred and profane works, exhibits a definite classical style.
