Qui sunt hi sermones quos confertis ad invicem ambulantes et estis tristes? Alleluja.
Respondens unus cui nomen Cleopas dixit ei:
Tu solus peregrinus es in Jerusalem et non cognovisti quae facta sunt in illa his diebus? Alleluja.
Quibus ille dixit: Quae? Et illi dixerunt:
De Jesu Nazareno qui fuit vir propheta potens in opere et sermone coram Deo et omni populo. Alleluja.
Lc 24, 17-19.
English translation
What are you discussing as you walk along sadly? Alleluja.
One of them, named Cleophas, answered him:
Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days? Alleluja.
What things? he asked them. And they said:
About Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people. Alleluja

Miről társalogtok itt az úton, és miért vagytok szomorúak? Alleluja.
Egyikük, akit Kleofásnak hívtak, hozzáfordult:
Te csak idegen vagy Jeruzsálemben, aki nem tudja, mi történt ott ezekben a napokban?
Micsoda? - kérdezte.
