Miserere nostri versus Miserere nobis"

While the accepted text in the Roman rite Latin text for the Agnus Dei has the response "Miserere nobis", Thomas Morley chose instead to use "Miserere nobis" (readily evident in facsimiles of the source). Indeed, this work is traditionally regarded as a Motet, and not part of the Mass propers. Hence, it is probably a bit misleading to assert that an edition with "nobis" instead of "nostri" has the correct Latin text. – Chucktalk Giffen 22:31, 22 March 2011 (CDT)

Nobis versus nostri

I withdraw "correct", Charles, given the evidence of the facsimile. It's also true to say that I gave up Latin in 1959, but I still think that nostri makes no sense grammatically. It's likely that Morley learnt Latin, so probably wouldn't have made a simple grammatical error like that. Is the facsimile manuscript or printed? If printed, it might be a printer's error. I suppose the argument hinges on how important one thinks the words are when singing. I think it would be sensible for me to mention the difference on the edition I've put up.
