Talk:Il bianco e dolce cigno

Hi, I edited the English text a little bit and the Dutch text more extensively, for that one was really not right (I mean the last few lines)..

For the understanding of the text it is very important to realise the erotic connotation of the verb "to die" in this kind of text. Whether you want to take it as literally as "orgasm" or at a "higher" level does not really matter.

Basically what the writer says is: if that's what people call "dying" (this meaning of the word was common knowledge at the time), I wouldn"t mind to die a thousand times a day ("il di' " is another Italian word for "il giorno", "di' " (mind the accent grave, otherwise it means "of") from Latin "dies", meaning "day", "giorno" from Latin "diurnum", meaning "daily", but in Italian they both mean "day". Nowadays "giorno" is the more commonly used word, though... that's probably why the previous translators missed that meaning...)
