I have a Liber Usualis on a handy shelf, but there are surely many choir directors who don't - and even for those who do, would it not be more convenient to have the chant verses included in the appropriate places in the edition?

Probably. I'm getting the hang of using the Meinrad fonts (for the creation of plainsong), so will update the Magnificat editions that require chant interspersion with the properly notated plainsong at some stage.
