Feria Sexta in Parasceve

The current page title, O vos omnes (Feria Sexta in Parasceve) (Tomás Luis de Victoria), seems to imply a liturgical use on Good Friday. Unless I'm missing something though, that designation in the 1572 contents refers to the singing of Saturday tenebrae on the preceding eve.

In any case, I'm inclined to move and dab Victoria's settings thus instead:

Indeed, while O vos omnes is indeed one of the Saturday tenebrae responsories, Victoria seems to have been quite specific in the 1572 motet of the same name as being for Feria Sexta in Parasceve, presumably to be sung on Good Friday eve. Not only do the contents of the 1572 make this reference, but so also do the individual parts have this designation (cf. the altus part for example. Searching around the internet makes it clear that this particular setting is indeed widely referred to as O vos omnes (Feria VI in parasceve), so I'm inclined not to change its title. This (separate) motet is not a part of the Victoria Tenebrae responsories, where the no. 14 responsory O vos omnes (the 1585 edition) is indeed for Sabbato Sancto (ad matutinum) and is specifically a part of the Victoria Tenebrae Responsories cycle (6 responsories for each of Maundy Thurday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday). – Chucktalk Giffen 22:14, 21 January 2011 (CST)
Hi! It would not have been necessary to add a label to 1585 since it was part of a cycle; it might have been sung Friday as well, which (liturgically speaking) ends at sundown (or even earlier at different times and places), so my question (is there a non-eve-of Holy-Sat. liturgy at which 1572 could be sung?) stands. In any case, the question is not so much how Victoria or a publisher labeled the 1572 setting, but how to dab O vos omnes (Feria Sexta in Parasceve) (Tomás Luis de Victoria) from plain old O vos omnes (Tomás Luis de Victoria) and avoid further misspostings (not to mention confusion among downlaoders). O vos omnes (Feria Sexta in Parasceve) does not seem to be universal on the internet and I cant find any non CPDL references. Grove unhelpfully lists the pieces separately under "responsories" and "motets" as O vos omnes 1585b & O vos omnes, qui transitis per viam 1572. IMSLP follows in part. WIMA adds Officium Hebdomadæ Sanctæ 1585 to the title; unfortunately this is the 1572 setting!
My impression is that scholarly writing disambiguates by adding the year. Haberl's Palestrina ed. dabs by using aequales/inaequales when possible, and I dont think it cumbersome to combine these conventions. Richard Mix 16:11, 22 January 2011 (CST)
