George West Foster

George West Foster was born in Sullivan, New Hampshire, and trained at the Cheshire County Teachers’ Institute. For a short time, he clerked in Boston, and taught music in Brooklyn, New York. He settled in Keene, New Hampshire, where he taught music; and was a music dealer, general agent for Wilcox & White’s improved parlor organs for New Hampshire and Eastern Massachusetts, dealer in piano fortes, musical merchandise and stationery. He died in Keene. He wrote and published hymns, anthems, and part songs mostly intended for pedagogy.
