Thomas Green was a farmer and "for some time a member of the Congregational body" in Ware, Hertfordshire, England (Julian, Dictionary of Hymnology, 1907). His Hymns and Poems on Various Subjects, chiefly Sacred, by the Late Mr. Thomas Green, of Ware, Hertfordshire, was published posthumously in 1780 (2nd edition, 1797). Since he was active in his church in 1778, estimated death year is 1779.
