Biography
Born in Norfolk, England, she married the Rev. George Frederick Cross in 1870 and moved with him to Australia only weeks later. Her formal published career spans 1865 to 1922. Nancy Cato (1989) writes that 'some of her ideas were considered daring and even a little improper for a clergyman's wife'. She moved back to England in 1923 with her husband until his death in 1927, after which she returned to Australia. A street in the Canberra suburb of Cook is named in her honour.
