Song of Solomon 5:8–10
Latin text
- Adiuro vos filiae Jerusalem,
- si inveneritis dilectum meum,
- ut nuntietis ei, quia amore langueo.
- Qualis est dilectus tuus ex dilecto,
- o pulcherrima mulierum,
- quia sic adiurasti nos?
- Dilectus meus candidus et rubicundus;
- electus ex milibus.
English translation
by Mick Swithinbank
- (Bride:)
- I charge you, O ye daughters of Jerusalem,
- if ye find my beloved,
- that ye tell him that I languish with love.
- (Daughters of Jerusalem:)
- What is thy beloved more than another,
- O thou most beautiful of women,
- that thou so chargest us?
- (Bride:)
- My beloved is white and ruddy,
- one chosen from thousands.
