Italian text Baciai per aver vita, ch'ov'è bellezza è vita, ed ebbi morte; ma morte sì gradita, che più beata sorte vivendo non avrei: ne più bramar potrei. Di sì soave bocca in un bel volto baciando, il cor mi fu rapito e tolto.

English translation I kissed to have life, for where there is beauty is life, yet I found death; but a death so welcomed that a more blessed fate I could not have, living: nor could I desire more from so sweet a mouth, on such a lovely face: kissing, my heart was captivated and stolen away.
