Edition notes: The keyboard accompaniment shown in small notes in the source has been omitted from this edition. In addition to the first verse of the text, which is given in the source, three further verses of the text have here been underlaid editorially. The following notes are printed in the source as small crotchet grace notes slurred to full-sized minims, and have here been written out in full: bar 4, beat 1, soprano F and alto D; bar 11, beat 1, soprano D and alto F.

Description: This tune is one of two items in that book attributed to 'H. Searle': the other, 'Salvation', is a through-composed setting of 'Salvation, O the joyful sound'. The order of staves in the original is Alto - Tenor - Air - [Bass], with the alto and tenor parts given an octave above sounding pitch. The Air and Bass staves are bracketed together and a keyboard accompaniment is indicated between these parts in small notes.
