Biography
Charles Lee Williams was born at Winchester, England. He was a chorister of New College 1862-1865 and assistant organist at Winchester Cathedral 1865-1870. He was then in Ireland as organist at St. Columba’s College until 1875 and received a Mus. B. degree at Oxford in 1876. From 1876-1882, he was organist of Llandaff Cathedral, then at Gloucester Cathedral, where he served with great distinction until ill health forced retirement in 1898. He remained active as composer and other activities until his death.
