Chi brama di veder quanto puo amore,
veng' a mirar questi dolenti lumi
ch'egli hà convers' in riv'e'n font'e'n fiumi.
E questi fiumi ha poi convers'in fiamme,
O gran poter d'Amor, d'un chiuso loco
far sorger acqua e d'acqua poi far foco.
E questo foco s'è rinchiuso al petto,
misero petto hor sei fornace ardente,
hor su vedete Amor quanto e possente.
Tanto e possente Amor, tanto ha vigore,
ch'è ver quel ch'io non credo e'l provo spetto
che per amar altrui odio me stesso.
