German text 1. Christus, der ist mein Leben Sterben ist mein Gewinn ihm will ich mich ergeben, mit Fried fahr ich dahin. 2. Mit Freud fahr ich von dannen zu Christ, dem Bruder mein, daß ich zu ihm kommen und ewig bei ihm sei. 4. Wenn meine Kräfte brechen, mein Atem geht schwer aus und kannkein Wort mehr sprechen: Herr, nimm mein Seufzen auf. 7. In dir, Herr laß mich leben und bleiben alle Zeit so wirst du mir einst geben des Himmels Wonn und Freud. Alternate text for verse 1: Christus, der ist mein Leben und Sterben mein Gewinn dem thu’ ich mich ergeben, mit Freud’ fahr’ ich dahin.

English translation 1. Lord Christ, he is my being, My death is my reward; To it will I surrender; With joy will I depart. 2. With joy I go from this world Unto my brother, Christ, That I come to see Him And be with Him for aye. 4. When my powers fail me, I am short of breath And can no longer speak: Lord, take away my sorrows. 7. In you, Lord, lies my life now and at all times so you alone will grant me heaven's joy and bliss.
