Latin.png Latin text

Claritas Domini circumfulsit pastores vigilantes
et custodientes vigilias noctis super gregem suum.
Et ecce angelus Domini stetit iuxta illos et dixit:
"Nolite timere: ecce enim annuncio vobis gaudium magnum,
quod erit omni populo.
Quia natus est vobis hodie Salvator mundi qui est Christus Dominus in civitate David.
Et hoc vobis signum: invenietis infantem pannis involutum
et positum in praesepio. Alleluia."

English.png English translation

The glory of the Lord shone round about the shepherds,
keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them and said:
"Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy,
which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you: ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes
lying in a manger. Alleluia."
