Description: Composed after 30th July, 1683, for the funeral of the wife of Louis XIV. For 3 recorders, 5 strings, double chorus (marked A & B in the score), 9 soloists and continuo. The bas dessus (mezzo soprano) part is best doubled in tuttis, but can be situated in either choir, as it does not take part in any antiphonal sections. The setting concludes with the opening words of the Requiem mass.
