Deh! Prega amor il Fato
Ch’io da gli ardenti preghi
Che s’egliavvien[sic] ch’ai voti miei si pieghi
Farò ghirland’ al tuo bel nom’ amato.

Deh digli che mie voglie
Faccia contente homai
Che s’egli avien che dia fine à miei guai
Nel Tempio tuo spargerò fiori e foglie.

Dunque ogni acerba noia
Scaccia ti prego, amore,
Che s’opri la tua forza e’l tuo valore
Farà saper che sei nunzio di gioia.

English.png English translation

God of love, pray beg Fate
to hear the ardent prayers:
say that if he does what I ask
I shall make garlands to your beloved name.

Tell him that he should grant my wishes now
and put an end to my woes,
I shall scatter flowers and leaves in your temple.

Please, God of love, then
let him dispel all bitter troubles,
let your strength and vigour prevail
and I shall let it be known that you are a messenger of joy.
