- Dilectus meus descendit in hortum suum
- ad areolam aromatum,
- ut ibi pascatur in hortis
- et lilia colligat.
- Ego dilecto meo et dilectus meus mihi,
- qui pascitur inter lilia.
English translation
- My beloved is gone down into his garden,
- to the bed of aromatical spices,
- to feed in the gardens,
- and to gather lilies.
- I am my beloved's, and he is mine,
- who feedeth among the lilies.
German translation
- Mein Geliebter stieg in seinen Garten hinab
- zum kleinen Gewürzbeet,
- damit er dort weide in den Gärten
- und Lilien sammle.
- Ich [gehöre] meinem Geliebten und mein Geliebter mir,
- der zwischen Lilien weidet.
Einheitsübersetzung: In seinen Garten ging mein Geliebter zu den Balsambeeten, um in den Gartengründen zu weiden, um Lilien zu pflücken. Meinem Geliebten gehöre ich, und mir gehört der Geliebte, der in den Lilien weidet.
