DRAGONFLY

Each day, a blaze of shimmering light -
Too bright, too fierce to look upon.
A glorious furnace of monstrous might
Set high in an azure sky.

But now, a ball of royal red
Unblinking in a golden sea,
Sinking to rest its weary head
On distant lands beyond.

Now see below this wondrous sight;
A second mirrored sun and sky
Twins that above as lake shines bright,
And burns in harmony.

A perfect bounce of gilded light
Reflects this mystery. But then
A fish’s lip snaps in the night -
The portrait bursts in shards.

The shining wand of a dragonfly
Glitters and glows in the fading light.
Bright blue and green to catch the eye
Then still, and now is gone.

So. We have seen it, held in thrall.
But mighty L'Ux has seen it all.
