General Information

Title: Emendemus in melius
Composer: Cristóbal de Morales (attrib.)

Number of voices: 5vv   Voicings: ATTBB and SAATB
Genre: SacredMotetResponsory for Lent I

Language: Latin
Instruments: A cappella

First published: 1852 in Lira sacro-hispana (ed. Hilarión Eslava), Volume 1, no. 19
Description: Writing in the journal 'Early Music' in August 2002, John Milsom expressed strong doubts as to whether this - one of Morales's most famous works - could actually have been composed by him (both on stylistic grounds and because of the lack of contemporary sources ascribing it to him).
