General Information

Title: Et incarnatus est
Composer: Francisco Valls

Number of voices: 8vv   Voicing: SSAATTBB

Genre: Sacred, Canons

Language: Latin
Instruments: a cappella
Published: 1742

Description: From "Mapa Armonico Practico", facsimile manuscript including this score published by Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas. In the original scores all 8 voices are set out on distinct staves. The AATT voices appear in one score and the SSBB voices in a further and separate score immediately underneath, so it may have been intended that the canon should be sung in either of those groups of voices as well as in 8 parts and, no doubt, in 4 voices SATB. "Trocado" indicates that the canon uses contrary motion.
