Fürwahr, er trug unsere Krankheit und lud auf sich unsre Schmerzen.
Wir aber hielten ihn für den, der von Gott geschlagen und gemartert wäre.
Aber er ist um unsrer Missetat willen verwundet und um unsrer Sünde willen zerschlagen.
Die Strafe liegt auf ihm, auf daß wir Frieden hätten, und durch seine Wunden sind wir geheilet.
English translation
Verily, he hath borne our illness and loaded himself with our pains.
But we considered him to be tortured and pained by God.
Yet he hath chosen to be chastised for our trespasses, and injured for our sins.
He bore the punishment to grant us peace, and he delivered us through his wounds.
