Background
Galician chant (Ukrainian: галицький розспів) is a singing tradition used in the Greek-Catholic and Orthodox Church mainly in Western Ukraine (note that the term "Galician" here refers to the Ukrainian region "Halychyna", not to the Spanish "Galicia"). Like in Kievan or Znamenny chant, Galician chant uses the system consisting of Eight Modes (intonation structures).
