Biography: Georges Guiraud (* 8. März 1868 in Toulouse; † 11. März 1928 ebenda) was a French composer, organist and music teacher. The son of the organist Omer Guiraud studied at the École Niedermeyer, then at the Conservatoire de Paris, where César Franck, Charles-Marie Widor and Jules Massenet was among his teachers. He looked then as Head of Singing at the Concerts Colonne and organist in Paris. After his father's death in 1912 he returned to Toulouse and took over his position as organist at the Basilica of St-Sernin, and his teacher at the Conservatory of. Guiraud composed mostly sacred music, including organ and choral works.
