Description: Cantata for the inauguration of a new town council. It is now accepted that the work acquired its surviving form no earlier than 1742, but 3 movements appear to be parodied from 2 lost works known from their libretti:Gott, man lobet dich BWV 120b for the 1730 commemoration of the Augsburg Confession, and the c.1729 wedding cantata Herr Gott, Beherrscher aller Dinge BWV 120a, and the music of the soprano aria appears in the violin sonata BWV 1019a, c. 1725. Bach reworked the choral second movement for the Symbolum Nicenum of his Mass in B minor.
