The six pieces are presented as a single poem, attributed to Stefano Colonna, (1265 – c. 1348) in "I Sonetti, le Canzoni, et i Triomphi di M. Laura in risposta di M. Francesco Petrarca", published in 1790.

si rinue virtu del vivo lume,
che m'arse già fin da l'empireo cielo,
tra questi freschi colli, valli e poggi,
e che l'aura gentil rinova'l tempo,
altre spoglie prendendo i tronch'i rami.
