Note: This translation was executed for the purpose of fitting to the existing musical structure and original Latin rhyme scheme. It is not intended as a "pure" or literal translation.

1. On our Savior's birthdate
all the angels celebrate
and they sing in holy love:
'Glory be to God above!
God is born of a virgin, God was borne by a virgin, by a virgin ever chaste.'

2. Now is born Emanuel
as foretold by Gabriel,
as attests Ezekiel,
as fulfilled on this Noël.
God is born of a virgin, God was borne by a virgin, by a virgin ever chaste.

3. Angels bring these precious words,
gladdening the shepherds,
telling of the Savior's birth,
of great joy for all the Earth:
'God is born of a virgin, God was borne by a virgin, by a virgin ever chaste.'

4. Born today is Christ the child,
born of Mary undefiled,
born this babe, so meek and mild,
magi, kings and beasts beguiled.
God is born of a virgin, God was borne by a virgin, by a virgin ever chaste.

5. Magi come from far away,
bringing gifts for Him today,
and adoring him with love:
'Glory be to God above!
God is born of a virgin, God was borne by a virgin, by a virgin ever chaste.'
