Je n'ai point plus d'affection
que ce qu'il me plaît d'en avoir.
Et si ne porte passion
s'il ne me plaît la recevoir.
J'ai gagné sur moi tel pouvoir,
tel crédit et autorité
que je commande à mon vouloir,
rien n'y peut la fragilité.

English translation

No more affection have I now
Than what it pleases me to show.
And passion I do not allow
Unless I choose for it to grow.
Such strength does this on me bestow,
Such good repute and dignity
Control of my own will I know,
And weakness never troubles me.
