João Victor Bota was born in 1981 and started his musical studies in 1992. He entered the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) in 2000, where he graduated in Composition. His works have been interpreted by conductors as Abel Rocha (Banda Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo), Dario Sotelo (Orquestra de Sopros de Tatuí), Mônica Giardini (Banda Sinfônica Jovem do Estado de São Paulo), Roberto Farias (Banda Sinfônica do 27º Curso Internacional de Música em Brasília) and Roberto Sion (Orquestra Jovem Tom Jobim).
João Victor Bota is a Brazilian classical contemporary composer. He works doing arrangements and original compositions to be performed by symphonic bands and other wind ensembles. His music is played by great Brazilian symphonic bands, like Banda Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, Banda Sinfônica de Cubatão and Orquestra de Sopros do Conservatório de Tatuí. Some of his music is being performed abroad, in countries like Norway, Venezuela and Spain. His interests in orchestration and composition can be verified through his master dissertation, named A Transcrição Musical como processo criativo, defended in august of 2008 at the Music Graduation Course of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP, Brazil. Moreover, he is teacher of Music Theory and Orchestration at EMESP – Escola de Música do Estado de São Paulo, in the city of São Paulo, since 2009.
