Life

Born: 05 Aug 1822 Hummendorf near Kronach

Died: 03 Feb 1909 Munich

Biography

Organ-virtuoso, pupil of Bodenschatz, and of the Seminary at Altdorf, Bavaria.
1841-2, teacher at Bruck, near Hof;
1842, organist of Munich Protestant church St. Matthäus, cantor in 1848;
org-prof. at the Cons., 1850; J. G. Rheinberger became his pupil there;
music director at Erlangen Univ., 1854;
in 1866, Dr. phil.; later professor, retiring in 1888.
