Biography

Johannes Hermann (Herman) was the 4th Thomaskantor in Leipzig from 1531 to 1536. Subsequently, where he became the first Evangelist Kantor in Freiberg. In 1540 he became a professional jurist (1541 Amtsvoigt). He authored (1593) the text of the chorale Jesu, sei nun gepreiset (usually known in the setting by Melchior Vulpius).
