Description: First published in Pilsbury's United States Sacred Harmony, 1799. See David Music (1995) for a history of this tune. Words by Joseph Hart, 1759, the fifth stanza of the hymn Come and welcome to Jesus Christ, with seven stanzas. There are many versions of Hart's hymn; the one used by Pilsbury is an American one, exemplified by the version printed in Coke and Asbury's Pocket Hymn-Book of 1790.
