The remark by the composer at the end of this work "Here one may continue" suggests that it is unfinished, but it may also be an extract of a completed work. There are, for instance, at least 3 Magnificats by Valls in manuscript in the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Barcelona of which one, catalogue number M 1568/9, is stated to be in 8 parts.
