Biography

Studies: high school in Přerov, Philosophical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno, Janáček Academy of Music in Brno

Occupation: choirmaster in Opera of North Bohemian Theatre in Liberec since 1953

In 1958, he founded the children's choir in Liberec together with his wife Jiřina. It was called Severáček (sever is North in Czech). It was, and still is, successful not only in Czech Republic, but also abroad. Milan Uherek led the ensemble with his wife until 1997.

For his acts of merit he was awarded the Prize of František Lýsek (1988) and the Prize of the Czech Ministry of Culture (2001).

All scores are submitted with permission of composer's heirs.
