General Information

Title: Missa Haec est virgo sapiens
Composer: Francisco Valls

Genre: SacredMass

Languages: Ancient Greek, Latin
Instruments: Mixed ensemble

First published:

Description: A 9 voice setting of the mass.Only the Kyrie, the Et in spiritum and the Benedictus have been transcribed. The Benedictus is a canon four in two.

It is not clear why it is called "Haec est virgo sapiens". There is no obvious affinity with the plainchant associated with that phrase. The oboes seem to join with the violins at bar 14 but it is not clear whether they play in the other movements of the Kyrie.
