Original text and translations

Come, O you shepherds, people, listen to me.
Go straight to Bethlehem, the baby to see.
For Christ is born a man now among you,
God come from heaven now here to save you:
Be not afraid!

Let us go swiftly to Bethlehem's stall,
There to adore the gift revealed to us all.
What here we find we'll tell all mankind;
Give adoration, come, every nation:
Hallelujah!

Truly the angel good news has revealed
To Bethlehem's shepherds as before him they kneeled.
Now joy on earth to all men is here;
Peace among all banishes fear.
Praise be to God!
