This piece was composed on the text of a Portuguese version of the poem "A Prayer", by Florence May Holbrook, published in the "London Light" and referred to by Max Heindel as a typical "Rosicrucian Prayer" in his conference "The Mystery of the Holy Grail", in 1909. The title of this piece in Portuguese means "The Prayer of the Sons of Fire", ''Sons of Fire'' being the designation by which the members of the Christian Esotheric school called "Fraternidade Rosacruciana São Paulo" (São Paulo Rosicrucian Fellowship, to which the composer belongs) are known.

Not more of Light we ask, O God,
But eyes to see what is;
Not sweeter songs, but ears to hear
The present melodies.

Não Te rogamos mais luz, ó Deus
Not more of strength, but how to use
The power that we possess;
Não Te rogamos canções mais doces
Not more of love, but skill to turn
Senão ouvidos para ouvir as presentes melodias
A frown to a caress.

Not more of joy, but how to feel
O poder que já possuímos
Its kindling presence near,
Não mais amor, senão habilidade
To give to others all we have
Para transformar cólera em ternura
Of courage and of cheer.

No other gifts, dear God, we ask,
Essa inefável presença
But only sense to see
How best those precious gifts to use
De entusiasmo e de coragem

Não Te rogamos, amado Deus, mais dons,
Give us all fears to dominate,
All holy joys to know;
To be the friend we wish to be,
To speak the truth we know.

Faze que dominemos todos os temores
To love the pure, to seek the good,
Que conheçamos todas as santas alegrias
To lift with all our might
All souls to dwell in harmony,
Para transmitir a verdade que já conhecemos
In freedom's perfect light.

Assim seja!
Amen!
