- Edition notes: Original pitch (chiavi naturali) and note values. Italian spelling modernised.
- The two prints I prepared the present edition from (Gardano 1539 and Gardano 1581) differ in text underlay, and also musically: the tenor in bar 20 is C natural in the 1539 edition, C sharp in the 1581 edition. In the present edition I opted for C natural. Likewise, the soprano in bar 69 is C natural in the 1539 print, C sharp in the 1581 print. Here I opted for C sharp.

Nuova donna m'apparve,
di beltà tale e di sì gran valore
che parea dirmi taci e dammi il core.
Io volea i colpi suoi fuggir allora,
e star col giogo antico
quando Amor disse: Folle ove ten vai
questo e'l tuo vero ben ed io ti dico
chi di lei s'innamora
può gir sicuro di non pianger mai.
Onde io che pianto assai avea,
ratto mi volsi a far l'onore,
e ben veggio or che'l ver mi disse Amore.
