O Lord, because my heart's desire hath wished long to see:
my only Lord & Saviour, thy sonne before I dye:
the joy & health of all mankind, desired long before,
which now become into the world, of mercy bringing store.

Thou sufferest thy servant now in peace for to depart:
according to thy holy word, which lightenet my hart,
because mine eyes, which thou hast made to give my body light:
have now beheld thy swing health which is the Lord of might.

Whom thou mercifully hast set of time aboundant grace:
in open sight & visible, before all peoples face.
The Gentiles to illuminate and Sathan overquell:
and eke to be the glory of thy people Israel.
