Orfeo, cantand’a sè tirava i monti
Placò l’Inferno e le silvestre fiere;
Ma quando parli tu, dolce mio bene,
Allacci strett’ognun senza catene.

Con la Cetra Arion quietava i venti,
E placò, con Nettuno, ogni Delfino;
Ma tu, col soavissimo parlare,
Faresti un cor di Tigre humiliare

Anfion, sonando con la sua Zampogna,
Tutta la patria sua di mura cinse;
Ma tu, ridendo, cingi questo core
Di foco, fiamma, stral i, lacci e ardore.

Questi che feron tante meraviglie,
Tre furon, chi col suono e chi col canto;
Ma tu, con la favella e dolce riso,
Mi mostri aperto in terra il Paradiso.
