Ove le luci giro
un tenebros' horrore,
m'appar d'inanzi e stran' horribil forme.
Ond' io sempre sospiro
e lagrimos' humore,
versa per gl'occhi'l cor, che mai non dorme,
ma giorn' e notte l'orme
cerco di vaga fera,
Che si nascond' e fugge
onde l'alma si strugge,
tal che convien ch'inanzi temp' i pera,
s'un di leggier' e scarco,
non la raggiung' al varco.
