Biography: Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz (in Polish: Piotr z Grudziądza) was a Polish composer of the first half of the 15th century, also active in Bohemia. Under Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III, de Grudencz served in the lofty position of Cappelanus or Curate.

Music: Grudencz is described as a composer with one foot in the Middle Ages and the other in the Renaissance. Within the context of this view, de Grudencz can be seen as a surprising, innovative and sensitive composer. A de Grudencz motet does not merely serve as a musical support of the text, but also expresses feelings. On the whole, de Grudencz's music is similar to that of the Burgundian School. His work survived predominantly in Czech sources, and in Bohemia remained popular into the 16th century. Some trends which would continue into the subsequent German and Central European vocal repertoire can already be heard in his work. -- attempted translation of Dutch Wikipedia, as accessed 29 January 2008
