French text Pour courir en poste a la ville Vingt fois, cent fois, ne scay combien, Pour faire quelque chose vile, Frere Lubin le fera bien; Mais d'avoir honneste entretien, Ou mener vie salutaire, C'est affaire a un bon chrestien, Frere Lubin ne le peut faire.

English translation As for rushing off to town twenty times, a hundred – reprobate! – for some foul purpose harming his renown, Friar Lubin will never hesitate; but godly precepts to obey, a life to lead that he’d dare talk about, that would be the Christian way: there you can count the friar out.
